The Julia Child Challenge

Channel: Food Network (DStv 175)
TX Time: 19h55
Genre: Reality Competition, Food

The Julia Child Challenge

Julia Child inspired generations of home cooks with her talent, enthusiasm and humour.

In this show eight top-notch home cooks compete in high-stakes culinary challenges to find out who has the fire, skill and passion to win the first-ever primetime competition series dedicated to all things Julia.

The competitors, all Julia Child superfans, share personal stories about their hero, cook in a kitchen recreated in the likeness of where Julia herself cooked, using the same ingredients Julia used and are even guided by Julia herself, through a larger-than-life television screen right in the middle of all the action.

Head judge Antonia Lofaso and a rotating panel of guest judges including Molly Baz, Cliff Crooks and Brooke Williamson ultimately decide who wins the life-changing grand prize that literally follows in Julia's footsteps: an all-expense paid three-month cooking course at Le Cordon Bleu.

Working in conjunction with The Julia Child Foundation for Gastronomy and the Culinary Arts to ensure this series reflects Julia's talent and heart, each episode features two rounds of competitive cooking.

The first round masters the basics and challenges the competitors to recreate one of Julia's signature dishes, with some guidance from Julia herself, as seen on a giant television screen in the middle of the action.

Round 2 is an ode to Julia, where competitors must take inspiration from Julia to create a unique dish reflecting their own culinary point of view.

Round 2 dishes are served family-style, with competitors and judges sampling each dish and sharing stories about their food and personal connection to Julia.

Based on performance, the judges name one winner and send one competitor home each week, until the last cook standing is awarded the ultimate grand prize.

In the series premiere, "The Meal That Changed Your Life": Eight competitors enter the kitchen in awe and are welcomed by Julia herself on the giant screen.

To kick things off, head judge Antonia Lofaso and guest judges Michael Voltaggio and Francis Lam challenge the competitors to use their skills and imagination to make one of the French dishes that changed Julia's life: sole meunière.

In Round 2's ode to Julia, the competitors must share their own culinary journey by recreating the meal that changed their own culinary life.

After sharing those dishes and the stories behind them, the judges name one overall episode winner and the first competitor is sent home.

FBI: International

Channel: Me (DStv 115)
TX Time: 20h00
Genre: Police Procedural, Drama

FBI: International

From Dick Wolf and the team behind FBI and the Law & Order brand, FBI: International is the third iteration of the FBI brand that follows the elite operatives of the Federal Bureau of Investigation's International Fly Team.

Headquartered in Budapest, they travel the world with the mission of tracking and neutralizing threats against American citizens wherever they may be, putting their lives on the line to protect the US and its people.

The Fly Team's Special Agent Scott Forrester, their accomplished and dedicated leader, puts his missions ahead of his personal life and is rarely seen without the team's secret weapon – their trusty Schutzhund dog, Tank.

Second in command is Special Agent Jamie Kellett, not afraid to tussle – in an alley or courtroom – and her extensive network of informants is a powerful resource.

Special Agent Andre Raines shines in the field and makes good use of his accounting background in tracking criminal enterprises' moving money.

The group's newest member is Special Agent Cameron Vo, a competitive West Point grad who excels at interrogation and strategy.

A key part of the mix is the unflappable Europol Agent Katrin Jaeger, a multilinguistic liaison between the FBI Fly Team and each host country they inhabit.

Always at the scene where American interests are at risk, FBI: International is a globe-trotting depiction of law enforcement overseas.

Upton and Halstead are eager to prove their sergeant's innocence, but the more evidence they gather, the closer they come to doing the opposite.

After making bail, Ruzek searches for a missing Antonio.

In the second episode of the weekly double bill, "Assets": When Atwater goes undercover in a dangerous South Side drug syndicate, he learns there may be more to its kingpin than meets the eye.

Halstead tries to join Atwater undercover, but finds himself at a disadvantage.

Meanwhile, Voight petitions the brass to show Ruzek leniency in his court case.
