Francis Lam is an American food critic and journalist best known as a judge on the reality cooking competition series Top Chef Masters, since 2012.
As Features Editor at Gilt Taste, the site was awarded four IACP awards and three James Beard award nominations in its first year. He provides colour commentary for the Cooking Channel show Food(ography).
His own writing has been nominated for a James Beard award and three IACP awards, winning one, but he knows all this talk of awards is a little tacky.
In past lives, he was a senior writer at Salon.com, a contributing editor at Gourmet magazine (RIP), and his work has appeared in the 2006-2011 editions of Best Food Writing.
He believes that, in professional football, that would count as a dynasty; in ancient China, not so much. Lam resides in New York City.
