Coming up in the Season 2 premiere of
Sibongile & The Dlaminis on 29 July 2024:
Newcomer Azande Mkhungo as Zamantungwa (Zama) Khumalo.
She's Sibongile's 17-year-old feisty roommate who embarks on university life with her.
Would you want her as your roommate? Read on to decide...
She grew up in KwaMashu township in Durban, surrounded by a rich tapestry of culture, music and community spirit, which sparked a passion for the creative arts.
She's the second of three children to two civil servant parents. She's always been the "IT" girl and cheese-girl of the hood and her parents have always strived to give her and her siblings the best life has to offer, shielding her from the reality of their finances.
Despite facing economic challenges, Zama's family instilled a sense of resilience and determination in her.
From a young age, she exhibited a flair for the dramatic and a love for expressing herself through fashion and performance. Zama dreams of making it big in the entertainment industry.
She aspires to become a renowned actress, however she had to appease her parents who refused to pay for film school and chose interior design instead.
We'll be seeing Zama struggle with her impulsiveness which will strain her relationships and hinder her progress towards her goals.
This is Azande's first TV role - same as
Nsikelelo Mthiyane who's replacing Luyanda Zwane as Sibongile.
Azande studied for a Bachelor of Arts in Live Performance degree at AFDA in Durban.
Her character is one of four new personalities who debut on Sibongile & The Dlaminis for Season 2.
