Rian van Heerden is once again the host of the Afrikaans version of the world's biggest quiz show and will test participants' general knowledge when they take the hot seat.
As in the past, the first safety net for participants is set at R10,000 after the fifth question.
After that, they can set their second safety net themselves from the sixth to the 14th of the 15 questions.
Participants may only use three of the four available lifelines, each of which can only be used once.
They can ask the audience for help or request a 50/50 where two of the four possible answers are removed.
They can also phone a friend or ask Rian for help with the answer.
Will this year be the year someone reaches that million-rand target? So far, only two participants have walked out of the studio with R500,000.
This season's participants represent an unusual and broad spectrum of professions.
There's a young medical student, a rugby referee, a stuntman and even a nuclear engineer who will try to take home the R1-million with their general knowledge.
A special commemorative episode will celebrate two significant events in South Africa: 6 November, 1999 when the first South African Who Wants to Be a Millionaire? was broadcast with Jeremy Maggs as host; and 15 November, 1999 when the show made its debut on kykNET.
