Q: Tell us more about Juvan, the character you portray.
Christiaan: Juvan is the grandchild of Nelius, which means he was born with a silver spoon in his mouth. He has a lot of confidence and is always looking for a good time.
Juvan swims with the Swart Marlyne, but that’s only because his grandfather owns shares in the club.
He doesn’t really understand what hard work means because he usually gets everything in life handed to him on a silver platter.
Q: Tell us more about your background.
Christiaan: I’m originally from Hoedspruit, Limpopo. I was 16 when I fell in love with filmmaking, and I started doing small skits with my brothers.
I then had the privilege to continue my studies and began auditioning to build the necessary experience in the film industry.
Q: Any previous TV and film work?
Christiaan: My first role was in an advertisement. Then I did a bit of reality TV for Via, a kykNET Storiefilm, an educational film for Primestars and now Diepe Waters.
Q: Without giving anything away, what can we expect from Juvan’s storyline?
Christiaan: With Juvan’s very spontaneous and impulsive personality, I believe viewers will often wonder what he will get up to next.
What I really enjoy about him is that he’s not like the other characters when it comes to dreams and goals. He just goes with the flow and isn’t always honest. That makes him fun to play.
