kykNet cooking reality competish Kokkedoor has the greenlight for another season, which makes it Season 5 and 10.
It's the fifth season of Kokkedoor and it's the 10th season of the overall franchise which includes spin-offs Koekedoor, Kokkedoortjie and Koekedoortjie.
A lotta servings going on.
The new season's subtitled Son & See (Sun & Sea) and will be filmed in Struisbaai - same as
the fourth season that's currently airing on Thursdays at 20h00.
Besides the location and cooking competition format, everything else about the new season will be different:
1. The judges. TV chefs Yolani Abrahams and Herman Lensing judge the show for the first time.
Series they've been in previously include SABC2's Spyskaart and VIA's Kookpunt (Yolandi) and VIA's Herman se Mikro-Geheime (Herman's microwave secrets).
Herman's on the production team of Kokkedoor 4.
2.New season contestants need to enter in pairs and must be related with a minimum of a 20-year age gap between them e.g. grandmother and granddaughter, a mother and son, sisters-in-law, or cousins.
You'll be competing in teams and the youngest member of the team must be 18 years or older.
3. The show's looking for home cooks exclusively - no professional chefs.
According to series publicist Wilmer Müller:
“The reason for this is that Kokkedoor: Son & See aims to highlight the nostalgic role of cooking within families and how it weaves a golden thread between generations.”
