Watching the past week of Generations was almost shocking for me coz I kept saying, "That's what I said in my article". Granted, these scenes were aired soon after my article was published and yes, I read the weekly previews in the Sunday newspapers but they don't go as far as tell us what lines will be said by the characters.
Here's what they said, AFTER I said it!!
· Kenneth Mashaba to Busi Dlomo:
"From CEO to Agony Aunt, must be quite an ADJUSTMENT!"
(I said it first Kenneth….)
· After her fight with Dineo, Busi SLEEP WALKS to join Jack Mabaso in bed.
(Am I good or am I GOOD?)
· Karabo to Queen, Zondiwe and Khapela:
"I want this funeral over now!!"
(I agree dear Karabo, I also asked about this last week)
· Angela to Ntombi:
"Am I cursed? Could it be why people keep dying on me?"
(I had this the other way round coz I counted Karabo's death list, which is definitely longer than Angela's)
· As I suggested in my article, Sphiwe does go to pick up Zandi from the hospital, it's not on his way out of Generations, as I suggested but guess what he says to her later on?
"Let's just drive, drive and drive"
Enough about my future-telling talents, here's what went down on the G-Spot last week.
So Karabo found out about Tau's stolen moment with Khethiwe….he-he, that cheeky Khethiwe, she is not even apologetic about it!!!
Karabo went ballistic…I don't know if she was mad that Tau cheated or the fact that he cheated with rural gal, Khethiwe. Does kissing qualify as cheating?
Anyway, Karabo told her to voetsek out of Tau's house and banned her from attending Tau's funeral. She also told her to go before Angela came back from her London trip.
Khethiwe told Khaphela she'd rather go elsewhere than live under the same roof as Karabo, too bad she realized that only after she was kicked out.
Of course in true Khethiwe style, she did not leave before asking Khaphela to tell Angela that "I will always love her". Naturally, I get irritated when she starts with her "my love" this and that on Angela.
Poor Karabo, I really felt for her, she was so hurt about Tau's wicked ways and unfortunately she took it all out on Khaphela. I understand she felt betrayed and all but did she really expect Khaphela to walk up to her and say: "Excuse me Miss Moroka, but Mnumzana kissed "Mlamu wami" when he was still alive"? All of her anger against Khaphela disappeared when she came across a mysterious hand written note in Tau's study.
Of course, one of the hot topics this week was Afri-Media's all expense paid trip to Cape Town disguised as a team building exercise. The reason for everybody, especially Busi, to moan is that the staff flew business class and they stayed in a 5 star Beach front Hotel.
Anybody out there who's experienced this in real life?
Busi confronted Kenneth about wasting Sibusiso's money and Kenneth was obviously irritated by this and that's when he said to Busi: "From CEO to Agony Aunt, must be quite an adjustment". Busi, as could be expected, was dumbfounded by this statement. I mean really, even Queen is irritated by Busi's sudden stupidity. At Tau's house, Busi was holding flowers and asked Queen: "Where should I put these flowers", Queen answered: "Use your discretion darling". Shame, but at least she had enough brains to dial Sbusiso's number in London and warn him about Kenneth.
She spilled the beans about the Cape Town trip and as expected, Sbusiso called Kenneth and for a while we thought that Kenneth had managed to brush him off but then Sbusiso called Jackie and asked her to literally spy on Kenneth.
Kenneth overheard pieces of this conversation and made sure that Jackie knows that he treasures loyalty from his staff members and he planted a seed of doubt in her mind as to whether Sbusiso would come back to run Afri Media, implying that she needed to choose carefully where her loyalty was placed.
AT LAST, it's the day before the funeral and Tau's body is brought home. Karabo's uncle announces that Karabo, Zondiwe and Angela should mourn in the bedroom, where the corpse will be placed. Ok, I am not sure about the Angela part, as far as I know it is the mother/spouse that have to sit on the mattress and mourn but the children do no HAVE to, unless I am not in touch with African custom??
My thoughts on this were disturbed by Zondiwe's screaming in the bedroom, asking "Mziwoxolo" to forgive her for being a bad mother. She's covering her face with her "well manicured" hands and nails. For what is supposed to be a mad poor woman, she really pays attention to her nails.
As if her sniveling was not bad enough, we were then exposed to Khethiwe's VERY FAKE wailing. Damn, she can use some tips from Brooke Logan (Bold & Beautiful) on how to cry on screen and make it look real.
Back at Afri-Media, Jackie (who looks more beautiful with each episode) and Zamani seem to be getting close, much to Tumisho's disgust. After spilling coffee all over Zamani's shirt, Tumisho makes a point of telling him to "stay out of his way" and you know how stupid Zamani can be sometimes, he just glared at him!
Kenneth Mashaba seems to be popular with the Ezweni ladies this week. Second to burst into his office was none other than our own Anne, demanding to know what his intentions with Afri Media were…Kenneth was about to call security to kick her out when Anne announced that they were after the same thing.
Little Dineo Mashaba interrupted this little union with a surprise little lunch picnic basket for hubby, so big Anne had to go.
Little D went to Ezweni later to warn Anne to stay away from her husband. Poor girl, she clearly doesn't know that Anne does not take kindly to being told what to do.
I love Anne's new hair do by the way, it's much better than that black wig she used to put on.
Meanwhile Cleo gets offered a R300 000 modeling contract by some company. She was apparently handpicked to be the face of a new fragrance, African Bush. Could it be she was handpicked by one of her former "clients"? Anyway, as things are on TV, she is not sure whether or not to accept the offer.
Meanwhile Sphiwe pays Zandi a visit at the hospital to confront her about why she embarrassed him live on air. Zandi is trying desperately to get him to listen to some research about how his blindness can be cured. He on the other hand does not want to hear anything about it and he is upset about all the blows he has had to deal with one after the other.
Zandi begs him to tell her what is wrong and he then bursts into tears and tells her that Tau is dead.
What I found amusing about this scene is that Sphiwe has never been in this room before but he managed to sit on a chair unassisted and he knew exactly where the door was. Ag, who cares, maybe he inherited some of my amazing powers!
TAU'S FUNERAL
Tau's funeral was so filled with RED outfits but before I get there; let me start from the beginning.
The Ezweni ladies are getting ready at the penthouse and Queen looks amazing in her black and white ensemble. She tells Busi & Ntombi that she has to look dashing for Mr. T's send off.
Ntombi misses Sbusiso and Busi misses Jack, luckily for Busi Jack is in town so she pays lover boy a visit…You know the drill, she goes "I don't know why I came here…wara wara wara"….Jack eventually gives her what she came there for and she later goes to Karabo's place. Ok, ok maybe not exactly what she wanted but at least she got a hug, which is better than nothing!
Karabo is very emotional that morning when she puts on a black veil, getting ready for the funeral. She is disturbed because this is not the veil she is supposed to be wearing.
Soon after that she calls monster-in-law to Tau's study and tells her that after the funeral, she should pack her bags, disappear and never come back. She also tells him that Tau is going to be buried here, closer to her and Angela.
Of course Zondiwe kicks up a fuss, and wonders who's been giving Karabo bad advice. Karabo's clutching the note from Tau and tells Zondiwe it's her decision.
When they're about to leave for the church, Karabo sees Khethiwe in a bright RED suit and asks her what she's doing there. Eish, she really wanted to stand out, Red Suit, Pink doek???
Khethiwe explains that though Karabo does not want to hear it, she was in love with Tau and she needs to say goodbye. Just then Angela joined them and was delighted to see Sis' Khethiwe. Karabo then pretty much had not choice but allow her to go with them to the church.
Angela insisted to go with Khethiwe in Khaphela's (also in a RED suit) car.
Everybody arrives at the church service, Kenneth & Dineo Mashaba (who is also in RED) arrive and pretty much the entire cast except our not so popuilar couple, Sphiwe & Zandi. (Could it be a sign that they are leaving, at last???)
Sphiwe arrives at the hospital to pick up Zandi for Tau's funeral. (Check this; the blind guy goes to pick Zandi up). All of a sudden, Sphiwe decides that he is not up to going to the funeral, of course this is after commenting on how different Zandi is, lord give me a break!!!
Back at the church service, Karabo decides she wants to tell everybody who the real Tau is!! We are left hanging…
In London, Sbusiso is trying to buy a TV Station, shame, I hope he's not planning on using Afri Media funds to buy it coz Kenneth's already used THAT money.
Sphiwe and Zandi are sitting at some coffee shop and HONESTLY the only thing I heard from what seemed to be a LONG conversations, was when Sphiwe told Zandi: "Let's just drive, drive and drive"!
I have to say big ups to the Generations guys; they really made an effort to make Tau's burial real. Rapulana must have made it VERY CLEAR to them that he will NOT come back to the soap because there is no way he will make a miraculous come back ala Stefano Dimera.
Back to the church service, Karabo takes to the pulpit and we get to find out what Tau wrote on the note. She tells us about how she and Tau met and then she went on to read the vows, which Tau had apparently scribbled on the note. Poor Khethiwe, she finally realizes that Tau loved Karabo more than he loved her. Shame, she can still go try her luck with him in Muvhango, which is where Boet Tau went after all.
At the cemetery everybody says their final goodbyes to Tau and Queen's last words to him are: "Don't worry Mr. T, I'll take care of Ezweni". Yeah Queen, what would Ezweni be without you!!??
There was drama for a minute when Dineo (again) went to confront Anne (yes, at the cemetery) about what she and Kenneth were discussing earlier on. She had caught them chatting and giggling earlier. Kenneth had to rush and drag his jealous school-girl-wife home. Jealousy is such a terrible thing!!!
After the funeral Karabo gave Zondiwe a cheque for an undisclosed amount. Zondiwe refused to go before the reading of the will; really does she expect Tau to have left something for her????
Anyway, Karabo threatened to make life difficult for her and then went to her bedroom to cry for the first time. For somebody who has been crying all these years, I was disappointed with her coz I couldn't make out whether she was laughing..
What we are supposed to hold our breath for this week:
· Why does Jack want to get into Afri Media?
· Does Sbusiso have the money to buy the TV station in London, if his pitch is successful?
· How does Angela react to the news that Karabo fired Khethiwe?
· Does Karabo finally manage to get rid of Zondiwe?
· What punishment does Kenneth give to Dineo for embarrassing him at Tau's funeral?
· Do Sphiwe and Zandi really go for that drive he suggested?
· Does Cleo accept the modeling contract she was offered?
I know, not really exciting hey? I still watch anyway!!
If you have the time, catch Generations weekdays at 20:00 on SABC 1 otherwise I will do it for you and you can just log on to SHUGA'S G-SPOT for what's hot and cold in Generations!!
