Waiting for something exciting to happen in Generations these past 2 weeks was like waiting for a guy you've been dating for 10 years to propose!!! If a guy waits that long…Sista, the ring ain't coming!! Move on…or so I heard!
So many times during the past two weeks I wished I had not committed myself to this column. I was really let down by the story line as it did not give me anything exciting to write about…
I even tried to interview people involved in the show and place interviews on the column, anything, just as long as I did not have to write about the boring story line but I think I was let down by revealing my reasons for wanting those interviews. No interviews so I have to let you know what has been happening on the G Spot, or rather, the G Bore!! If I did not mention it it's because it was not worth mentioning…
TSALANANG/DINANGWE: So, Duma went to sleep one night and woke up with confidence higher than Kilimanjaro! These guys that get roles as barmen in Generations these days, are so lucky …Remember Dingaan at Back of the Moon back in the days? Poor guy waited and waited for the writers to give him something to say, he got tired and went to showcase his talent in Muvhango. Back to Duma…this newly appointed Manager of Dinangwe has really evolved (keyword in Generations). He is not as stuck up as he used to be anymore, he speaks better than he did before and oh, he moved into the commune. Looks like every young person who is introduced to the story line moves to that commune. I bet if Dineo Mashaba was not married to Kenneth, she would also have moved into the commune.
AFRI MEDIA Kenneth is trying to buying Mzansi-On-Line but the owners are not interested in SELLING but this man is used to getting what he wants. Will he finally manage to buy it? We don't know but since he and Jack Mabaso are so buddy buddy these days, Jack might pull some strings (literally) to make it happen so he could score some points with Kenneth. Jack is not the only one trying to be on Kenneth's good books; Anne is right behind him, he he he you should see that woman strut her stuff, or should I say: what is "supposed" to be her "stuff".
Tumisho, on the other hand tried to give Kenneth advice about treating his wife but was rudely told to shut up if he wanted to keep his job. Kenny does not mince his words, he says like it is… I guess what Kenneth lacks in the looks department, he makes up for it with his personality…shame.
Jackie and Zamani seem to be developing an attraction but it's too slow for my liking. Ayanda is hanging around Afri Media but he is still as irritating as ever. I really liked Psyfo on Yo! TV and I really appreciate him trying to speak proper Xhosa on the soap but please, his accent sucks!!!!!!!! People don't speak Xhosa that way, he tries a bit too hard.
I also don't understand why he is Xhosa when his brother Zamani, is Zulu!! Imagine you're watching the Bold and the Beautiful, Thorne is talking to Ridge and speaking English while Ridge responds in Afrikaans!! As the Man U-Vodacom Challenge Ad goes, Iyo.
Sharon is heading for a BIG fall…she is so into Tumisho, the lawyer and stupid as she looks, this is reality at its best! We all know that Tumisho likes Jackie and is only going out with Sharon to make her jealous but Sharon does not want to believe any of that.
She is so blinded by her crush on Tumisho, she refuses to hear the truth. Why do we (girls) have to go through all that? Years later you look back and think, "Damn, I was such a fool".
The wardrobe people are at it again with Zamani!! The bright Orange, oversized jacket is back!!
EZWENI
So finally, Cleo decided to resign and pursue the modelling career. Poor girl, she told Karabo she'd work her full month's notice but Karabo told her "It's ok, today can be your last day". Is that cruel or what!???
It so happened that Cleo's last day at Ezweni was the same day that Busi was voted in as Tau's replacement for the MD position. Not before Anne nominated and voted for herself to be the new MD of course…that woman does not give up!!!!
She was brave enough to tell Busi that she "won't last in that position because even Sbusiso cracked under the pressure".
So when Cleo was busy packing her belongings, all the staff at Ezweni were having a drink to congratulate Busi in her new position and already she was feeling like an outkast.
By the way, it was only after she had resigned and sidelined by her colleagues that she phone the agency to accept the modelling offer and sign the contract. Something which I doubt still happens in real life.
You wait till you have something concrete in hand before resigning from your dream job!!! Ag anyway, why am I surprised, stranger things have happened on the G Spot!
For a minute we were made to believe that Ntombi and Sbusiso might be working things out but that all got messed up when Ntombi called Sbusison, a lady business associate who happened to be in Sbusiso's hotel room answered the phone and told Ntombi that Sbusison was in the shower (this was such a cheap scene), we kinda knew the minute Ntombi phoned that this was gonna happen.
Talking about Sbusiso, is he in or out???
AT THE MOGALE'S Watch out for nannies people!! They are dangerous! Ask Sienna Miller what happened with Jude and the nanny and if she doesn't give you the full story, ask Karabo Moroka. Kevin Federline knows what I'm talking about coz he was smart enough to fire the sexy male nanny that Britney had hired. Tau died and left half his mansion to nanny Khethiwe! To say Karabo was shocked would be an understatement.
The other half of the house was left for the deserving Khaphela. Karabo got Angela and Tau's JSE stock. Angela is now a mini millionaire, we guess!! Karabo was livid about Khethiwe getting the house and that was made worse by Khethiwe rubbing it in her face all the time. Boy is she irritating, that rural cow bores the hell out of me!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! She even went as far as telling Karabo to find another place to stay because their fighting was not good for Angela.
Karabo is in a catch 22 situation because the house is the only "connection" she has to Tau and Angela does not want to move to the Penthouse with her, she wants stay in her father's house.
Karabo tried to contest the will, stating that Tau was not in his right mind when he did that as there was no way he could live the house to a 'nanny". Soapie style, she got a "SIGN" from Tau telling her that she should not pursue that matter. Who needs "Crossing Over" when you have Generations?
THE COMMUNE
Sphiwe left and the writers did not have a creative way for his departure shame, so they resorted to invisible parents that where nowhere to be found when he got married or turned blind. Am just finally RELIEVED that he and Zandi are gone!!
Cleo met a new model colleague called Zoë and when they got signing bonuses, they went on a wild shopping spree. The only surprise here was that when Cleo went shopping, she was on a bike, helmet and all but when she came back to the commune from the shopping spree, it was with a handful of shopping bags, no helmet in sight. I wonder how they make bikes these days!
Poor Cleo, within days of starting with the modelling career, she was told to lose 5kg!! Losing half a kg is a hard enough mission! She has already started freaking about her weight, asking her fellow housemates whether they thought she is fat. When this happened, I thought, oh my! Here we go again! Here comes another "lesson to society" about dieting, bulimia etc…
THE MASHABA'S
Little Dineo was all along putting up a proposal for Sista Magazine and when she presented it to her husband over breakfast one morning, he "accidentally" spilt coffee over it.
To apologise for this incident, Kenneth bought his wife a convertible worth millions, paid for by Afri media funds of course.
Not impressed with her husband, she then went to ask "Tumisho", her husband's lawyer for advice on how she can set up a meeting with the Afri Media board behind Kenneth's back. She asked sly face not to tell hubby but really, why do they make her appear smart enough to put up a proposal for a new magazine but too stupid to think that Tumisho would tell Kenneth, being his lawyer and all???
Dineo then took her proposal to Ezweni and presented an idea for a new magazine called Dazzle. That witch, Anne was the first to run and tell Kenny what his little wife was up to…that led to Kenneth telling Dineo that if he wanted a business woman, he would have married one.
Dineo then went drinking, had an accident, landed in hospital, everybody brought her flowers (cute Samuel included). We got to see for the first time that Kenneth really does love his trophy wife.
That's it for Geneborations this week folks, catch it 20:00 weekdays on SABC1.
