Bio
Janice Byrne is an Irish actress best known for her recurring role as April Leonard in the science fiction fantasy drama television series Primeval, in 2011.
Janice started her training at Colaiste Dhulaigh, Dublin; she went on to complete her training at Rose Bruford College in the UK, where she graduated in 2007.
Rose Bruford productions include Children of the Sun, The Winter's Tale, The Crucible, Convictions and The Inland Sea. Since then she has appeared in a number of short films, including Uncle Bill's Barrel, Ordinary World and Portobello 196.
Soon after graduating, Janice was cast in a lead role as Jenny Cassidy in Zonad, a comedy feature film produced by Element Films which had a successful run in cinemas nationwide and was later released on DVD. Zonad screened at the Tribeca Film Festival in New York in 2010.
Theatre credits include Dancing at Lughnasa, Steaming at the Axis Arts Centre and Top Girls directed by Jason Byrne for Galloglass Theatre Company.
Janice made her debut stage appearance at The Abbey National Theatre as Anna in Tom Murphy's The Last Days of a Reluctant Tyrant and later completed a successful run of Brian Friel's Translations at the same venue.
Other screen work includes Whistleblower, written by Rob Heyland for Saffron Pictures, The Clinic for Parallel and several episodes of Primeval for ITV.
Janice also appeared in Amber, a four-part crime drama directed by Thaddeus O'Sullivan and produced by Screenworks for RTE.
