Jennifer Berman (also known as Dr. Jenn) is an American psychotherapist, sports psychology consultant, author, speaker, media figure and a practicing urologist with training in female urology and female sexual medicine best known as a recurring co-host on the medical-themed talk show The Doctors.
Dr. Berman made a unique choice to enter the field of urology, which has been dominated by males for a long time.
Her interest in the field, however, has led to her now being considered America's leading expert on women's sexual health issues, having pioneered clinical research studies on the physiology of female sexual function and dysfunction, and the medical therapies for female sexual function complaints.
She first became known to TV viewers for her award-winning television series on Discovery Health, Berman & Berman, which she co-hosted with her sister, Dr. Laura Berman.
Dr. Berman has gone on to appear as an authority on The Oprah Winfrey Show, Good Morning America, the Today show, CNBC, CNN, America's Health Network and both local and national affiliates for NBC and ABC News, in addition to radio programs nationwide, and several leading publications.
Dr. Berman is also the co-author of the New York Times best-seller For Women Only: A Revolutionary Guide to Overcoming Sexual Dysfunction and Reclaiming Your Sex Life and Secrets of the Sexually Satisfied Woman: Ten Keys to Unlocking Ultimate Pleasure.
For her efforts to increase community awareness, Dr. Berman has received several awards, including the Women of Action Award, the Women Who Make a Difference Award, and the Rising Star of the Year Award.
She is a member of the American Medical Association, the American Urological Association, the Sexual Medicine Society of North America, the International Society for the Study of Women's Sexual Health, and the Society for the Study of Impotence Research.
Dr. Berman received her Master of Science degree from the University of Maryland Medical Center and her medical degree from Boston University School of Medicine.
She completed her post-graduate urology residency training at the University of Maryland, and received specialised fellowship training in Female Urology and Female Pelvic Floor Reconstructive Surgery at UCLA Medical Center.
She was an Assistant Professor of Urology at the UCLA Medical Center and co-founded the Female Sexual Medicine Center at UCLA in 2001, serving as its Director.
Born in New York City, Dr. Berman has wanted to be a physician since childhood when her father, a colorectal surgeon, took her on hospital rounds. She is now a mother of two children and in her free time, is a die-hard equestrian.
