David Michaels is an English actor best known for his role as Dr. Neil Bolton, who died trying to save a child from a house fire, in the period drama police procedural telavision series Heartbeat, from 1997-1999.
David trained at the Manchester Polytechnic School of Theatre, graduating in 1985. He has worked consistently in many renowned and acclaimed theatre, television and film productions.
His theatre highlights are many but his personal highs include starring as Richard Hannay in the smash hit comedy The 39 Steps, a Season at The Regents Park Open Air Theatre, playing Demetrius in A Midsummer Night's Dream and playing two very different husbands at the Salisbury Playhouse, Gerardo in Death and the Maiden and the philandering John Middleton in The Constant Wife.
David's diverse theatre roles also include playing Robert in Harold Pinter's Betrayal, Alistair Campbell in Justifying War at the Tricycle and very recently Saddo in Lucinda Coxon's dark comedy Herding Cats at Hampstead.
David has also become a well-known face on British TV, playing leads and supporting roles in many popular TV series. He is probably best known as Dr. Neil Bolton in ITV's long running series Heartbeat and playing Harry in As Time Goes By with Judi Dench and Geoffrey Palmer.
He also had a stretch in the soap Family Affairs, where he caught up with his erstwhile wife from Heartbeat, Kazia Pelka and as Jon Welch in Coronation Street. He also played beleaguered PM Brian Worsley in the highly acclaimed BBC drama Hidden.
On film David played Captain Robert Green in Nowhere in Africa, which won the Oscar for Best Foreign Language Film in 2003.
Other film roles include Henry Callaghan in the soon to be released Welcome to the Punch and Tom Buchanan in Jump which won Best Film at the London Independent Film Awards 2012.
