Thilivhali comes from the village of Malamangwa in Limpopo, where he lives with both parents and two siblings. His father is unemployed after working at SAA and his mother works in a brickyard.
Thilivhali comes from an ordinary family, but started experiencing financial problems after matric when his father lost his job.
Thilivhali is unemployed but wishes to become a paramedic. In 2002 he decided to go to Pretoria to live with his sister and he and his brother-in-law decided to sell sweets and cigarettes on the streets.
In 2004 he decided to do a security course and soon started working as a security guard on a mine in Pietersburg. Unfortunately the security company’s contract expired, and Thilivhali found himself unemployed again.
Thilivhali has never flown, but says he isn't scared to because he thinks that airplanes are like cars, except they fly. He cannot swim, but is not fazed by water. As a hobby Thilivhali sometimes goes to the river to catch fish. He says he’s not afraid of anything because he can do anything that's required of him.
