Shane Sparks (born 1974) is an American choregrapher best known to television audiences for his role as a judge and choreographer in the reality show So You Think You Can Dance.
Born and raised in Cincinnati, Ohio, Sparks recognised his talent for dance at an early age, performing in hometown talent shows and high school showcases. After graduating from high school, Sparks moved to Los Angeles to pursue his dreams.
He began subbing a hip-hop class at the Millennium Dance Complex, formerly known as Moro Landis, now located in the No Ho Arts District. His class quickly grew from three people to a record 175.
Sparks has worked with artists such as Lindsay Lohan, Marques Houston and Omarion of B2K on the film You Got Served, and in the new R&B sensation O’Ryan’s (Omarion’s younger brother) video, Take it Slow, as well as his promotional tour.
Sparks was also the choreographer for *NSYNC’s 2004 Challenge for the Children Celebrity Basketball Game at the Office Depot Center in Ft. Lauderdale, FL.
Sparks was a judge for the 2004 World Hip-Hop Championship. He was also a choreographer for the Wade Robson workshop held in Miami.
He choreographed and appeared in the videos Learn To Hip Hop (2001) and Learn To Hip Hop: Volume 2 (2003).
He has been one of the three permanent judges of the reality dance competition America's Best Dance Crew since February 2008.
