Jam Alley Crew vs Crew is a South African dance reality competition series produced by Melody Xaba as a spin-off of Jam Alley which consists of two crews consisting of five friends each competing against each other to win a R10,000 prize.
The series premiered on SABC1 on Friday 20 May 2011, at 18h30. See "Seasons" below for seasonal broadcast dates and times.
Season 2 premiered on SABC1 on Friday 30 March 2012, at 18h00. New episodes broadcast weekly. There are 26 episodes in the second season.
Season 1
This show is a reloaded version of Jam Alley called Jam Alley Crew vs Crew. The show introduces a fresh face as the new presenter, Siyabonga Metane, the popular hip hop artist better known to his fans as Slikour.
Jam Alley Crew vs Crew comes complete with a brand new look, new set, new format and exciting new games for the contestants. There are now two crews (teams) consisting of five friends going up against each other.
The audience is also split into two groups and assigned to cheer for a specific crew. The winning crew stands a chance to win a R10,000 cash prize.
The format of the show is divided into three main segments: Guest Performance, Performance Challenges (karaoke, freestyle and dance style), and Buzzer Quiz.
There are lots of prizes for members of the audience too.
Season 2
Viewers can expect fresh and exciting changes when the new season of the Friday evening youth show, Jam Alley Crew vs Crew, begins on Friday 30 March 2012, at 18h00.
Joining the show in Season 2 is Metro FM presenter DJ Sphe, to bring additional vibe and energy. Also joining the show is Noluthando Meje (What's Your Story 2, Home Affairs, Interrogation Room) who takes her place alongside Slikour as co-presenter.
The focus of the new season is content on singing, music, quizzes and free styling games. A group of five friends come together to test their music knowledge, rhyming skills and singing skill in pursuit of that R10,000 prize.
The feel of the content is also different with DJ Sphe on the decks. Besides dishing the hottest music on the dance floor, he takes on a judging role as well.
The changes in the new season of Jam Alley are in line with the channel's stated objective, namely to embrace the changing social reality and to continue to be relevant with a core target audience.
With Slikour, Nolly and DJ Sphe, this season of Jam Alley Crew vs Crew sees a team that brings new and fresh entertainment to this show that scooped a Golden Horn for Best Youth & Children Programme at the 2012 SAFTAs.
