The Protector is an American police procedural television drama series created by Michael Nankin and Jeffrey Bell and starring Ally Walker as Gloria Sheppard, a single mother who struggles to maintain the balance between her personal and professional life as an LAPD homicide detective.
The series premiered in the USA on Lifetime on 12 June, 2011.
The Protector premiered in South Africa on DStv's M-Net Series channel on Thursday 15 September 2011, at 21h30. New episodes broadcast weekly. There are 13 episodes in the first season.
Synopsis
The Protector centers on divorced mother Gloria Sheppard (Ally Walker), who juggles her demanding personal and professional life as an intuitive LAPD homicide detective while raising two boys, Leo (Thomas Robinson) and Nick (Sage Ryan), with the live-in help of her troubled younger brother Davey (Chris Payne Gilbert).
The series also stars Tisha Campbell-Martin as Gloria's partner Michelle Dulcett, Miguel Ferrer as their boss Lieutenant Felix Valdez and Terrell Tilford as police officer Ramon "Romeo" Rush.
The Protector is produced by ABC Studios. Writer Jeffrey Bell, Nina Wass and Gene Stein are executive producers.
