Synopsis
Jo presents Hollywood superstar Jean Reno as Jo St-Clair, a veteran detective in Paris' elite Criminal Brigade tackling the city's most challenging murder cases.
Jo takes the audience behind the scenes of Paris' most iconic locations – the Eiffel Tower, Notre Dame, the Catacombs, Place Vendome – as we follow St-Clair in his relentless pursuit of justice.
Brilliant and brutal, St-Clair matches wits with pathological killers to solve a series of shocking murders: a supermodel is thrown off the Eiffel Tower; a top-gun female fighter pilot is murdered in front of Les Invalides; a child-killer is found tortured to death in the doorway of Notre Dame; and a young heiress is brutalized during a sexual romp at The Crillon Hotel.
Furthermore, a high-end jeweler is burned to death on Place Vendome; a microbiologist is found viciously stabbed in the Catacombs; a Sorbonne professor is poisoned in front of the Opera; and a woman hunting Nazi war loot is bludgeoned to death in the Place Des Vosges.
St-Clair is partnered with rookie detective Bayard, a good-looking college-educated cop whose by-the-book approach stands in marked contrast to St-Clair's lone-wolf methods.
Supervising them is Commissaire Dormont, a tough-minded boss with a long tumultuous history with St-Clair.
Rounding out St-Clair's team are the young sharp-tongued Coroner Angelique Alassane and the eccentric but gifted forensic expert Nicolas Normand.
St-Clair's personal life is as challenging and dangerous as the cases he solves. Jill Hennessy plays St-Clair's adviser and friend Karyn, an unorthodox nun who works in the city's underbelly.
As it turns out, St-Clair's most formidable challenge is his own daughter Adele, a young Emergency Room nurse as implacable as her father.
Jo was created by Emmy Award-winning writer-producer René Balcer (Law & Order, Law & Order: Criminal Intent). Balcer serves as the series' showrunner and Executive Producer, writing and producing the show in association with co-creators Franck Ollivier and Malina Detcheva.
Directing the episodes are Charlotte Seiling, Kristoffer Nyholm, Stefan Schwartz and Sheree Folkson. Jo was shot in English on location in Paris and is produced by Atlantique Productions for TF1 in association with Red Arrow International.
