Bar One Manhunt is an advertiser-funded South African reality competition television series produced by Rapid Blue in which each week contestants participate in elimination challenges and are voted off via different means, until one winner remains who claims a variety of prizes and the title of Bar One Man.
The series premiered on SABC3 on Wednesday 6 January 2010, at 20h31. It moved to SABC1 for Season 3. See "Seasons" below for seasonal broadcast dates and times.
Season 3 premiered on SABC1 on Tuesday 30 July 2013, at 21h00. New episodes broadcast weekly. There are 13 episodes in the third season.
Synopsis
The South African Bar One Manhunt reality TV series is a search for the most rugged man; a man of integrity and character who has the energy and resilience to live up to life's expectations; someone who lives, works and plays 25/7.
Men who live life to the full, are in great physical shape, have a wicked sense of humour, can think on their feet and have the ability to communicate well are invited to enter as the show searches for men who do not shy away from challenges, who live full and active lives yet are also stylish, sophisticated and able to demonstrate their softer sides.
To win this competition, the Bar One Man has to prove that he has the strength, endurance and resolve to face full-frontal challenges to overcome stiff competition for a grand prize valued at over R1-million and the honour of becoming the next Bar One Man.
The Bar One Manhunt reality TV series is open to all those who think they are cut out for it but have never had an opportunity to prove it before. This competition showcases everyday heroes.
Sleepless nights, long 25-hour days, a whole bunch of testosterone, some hard workers and lazier ones, the mood swings will be evident. Being part of this TV show is a life changing experience and over the duration viewers will witness the contestants evolve, develop and forge alliances in their quest for the title.
The competition is open to males between the ages of 18 and 40. Contestants travel to locations in South Africa and other exotic destinations across the world including Nevada, The Great Wall of China and Zanzibar.
The series is executive produced by Duncan Irvine, Kee-Leen Irvine and Ed Worster. Glenn Elliott is the series producer and Johan Naude the series director.
