Couch Trip is a South African reality travel show in which 12 contestants (called 'Overlanders') travel across a province while playing games and doing challenges for money.
Couch Trip: Western Cape is the second season in the series - the first was Couch Trip: Northern Cape, which was won by Luke Jansen.
At the beginning of the show each of the Overlanders is given a starting amount of R5,000. To enter they need to put R1,000 into the kitty which they continue to do to stay in the game each episode.
If they win a challenge - either as a team or as an individual - they keep the kitty - and when they run out money, they're disqualified and go home.
Those who have money when the show gets to the final challenge are the finalists who play for the final winning R60,000 prize.
The challenges and games are specific to the place the show is in and are sometimes physical and sometimes not.
Couch Trip: Western Cape starts in the town of Ceres, where the truck picks up 12 strangers who've been told to arrive at a derelict spot by 12 noon.
From there the journey begins as they travel from Clanwilliam to Paternoster, Breedekloof, Cape Town, Agulhas, Swellendam, Mossel Bay, Oudtshoorn, Knysna and finally Nature's Valley.
It's one big happy family at the start but of course, as things get hotter and longer, everything changes as the Overlanders travel 10,000km in 22 days, facing 20 challenges ... and each other.
