Rock School sees one of rock music's biggest legends – fire-breathing, blood-spitting Kiss frontman Gene Simmons - going back to school.
The man famous for his black and white Demon facemask, not to mention the longest tongue in rock, has accepted the challenge of turning school children into a rock band.
In season one, Gene teaches well-behaved public school kids to play rock in a very short space of time, with the aim of them playing as a support band for major rock band Motorhead at the Hammersmith Apollo.
The band (called The Class) consists of Josh (also known as "The Emperor") as lead singer, Dudley ("Dudders") as drummer, Jesse ("Bagpuss") as guitarist, Kwame ("Mr. Cool") on keyboards and bassist Camilla (who refused to have a rock name).
Stylists are Fiona ("FiFi") and Frances ("Francis"), while the stage managers are Lucian and Richard ("Mr White"). The band manager is Rodney ("Rods").
The children are all Grade 9 pupils at Christ's Hospital school, a luxurious boarding school located in the green countryside of Horsham, West Sussex.
Rock School was broadcast in South Africa on BBC Prime, DSTV.
