In similar fashion to other sketch-based comedy shows like The Fast Show, Little Britain features recurring characters and repetitive catchphrases delivered by highly versatile actors.
Not known for its delicacy, finesse or PG-sensitive, child-friendly banter, the show relies on a variety of weird, dark characters who explore a darker site of Britain that is not all barrel-organ operators on sunny piers in Brighton.
It began as a radio show on BBC 4 in 2001 but was soon commissioned for television.
