Julianne is about to turn twenty-eight. While lamenting over the sad state of her love life she receives a call from Michael O’Neil, an old college boyfriend, who informs her that he has important news to tell her.
Jumping to conclusions, Julianne assumes that he is going to ask her to marry him, as they had pledged that they would marry if both were single at age 28.
But when he announces he is to be married… to someone else… her bubble is burst.
Realising that she is actually madly in love with Michael, Julianne is not willing to give him up without a fight, even though his fiancée Kimmy Wallace is sweet, bright, pretty, and adores him.
Julianne pretends she is having her own wedding - to a gay friend - and goes to other extraordinary lengths to try put a stop to the real wedding.
