Season 1
Sherlock is a British crime drama television series produced by Hartswood Films for BBC Wales and co-produced with WGBH Boston for its Masterpiece anthology series. It was created by Steven Moffat and Mark Gatiss and is a contemporary remake of the Arthur Conan Doyle classic, set in modern-day London.
Other detectives have cases, Sherlock has adventures.
Benedict Cumberbatch and Martin Freeman star in Sherlock, a thrilling, fast-paced update of Arthur Conan Doyle's classic detective, set in present-day London.
In this unique adaptation, the iconic details from Conan Doyle's original books remain. They live at the same address, are only interested in the bizarre and, somewhere out there, Moriarty is waiting for them.
Sherlock also stars Rupert Graves as Detective Inspector Lestrade, Scotland Yard's finest, largely because Sherlock allows him to take credit for his deductions, and Una Stubbs as Mrs Hudson, their long-suffering housekeeper.
Sherlock is written and created by Steven Moffat and Mark Gatiss, and inspired by the works of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle. Sherlock is produced by Sue Vertue and the executive producers are Beryl Vertue, Mark Gatiss and Steven Moffat for Hartswood Films, Bethan Jones for the BBC and Rebecca Eaton for Masterpiece.
