Season 1

Hidden is a British television drama mini-series written by Ronan Bennett which focuses on small-time solicitor Harry Venn, who is reluctantly drawn back into his dark past after being approached by a lawyer searching for a missing alibi witness for her client, which quickly draws Venn into a deep and dangerous conspiracy involving the death of his brother 20 years previously, and which reaches deep into the heart of the British political system.

The series aired in the UK on BBC One from 6-27 October, 2011. There are four 90-minute episodes in the series.

Hidden premiered in South Africa on DStv's M-Net Movies Premiere channel on Wednesday 12 March 2014, at 20h30. New episodes broadcast weekly.

Synopsis

Philip Glenister and film star Thekla Reuten lead the cast in Hidden, a taut and gripping four-part conspiracy thriller, made by Origin Pictures for BBC One.

Written and created by Ronan Bennett (Michael Man's Public Enemies, The Hamburg Cell, Face) in collaboration with Walter Bernstein (The Magnificent Seven, The Money Trap, Fail Safe), Hidden revolves around the efforts of Harry Venn (Glenister), a small-time solicitor who is forced to delve into his murky past.

When a mysterious lawyer Gina Hawkes (Reuten) turns up asking Harry to find a missing alibi witness for her client he agrees to take on the job but is unwittingly drawn into investigating the death of his brother 20 years ago.

Harry quickly finds himself caught up in a much bigger and more complex conspiracy.

The cast includes David Suchet (Agatha Christie: Poirot) as Sir Nigel Fountain, Anna Chancellor (The Hour) as Elspeth Verney, Richard Dormer (My Boy Jack) plays Frank Hanna, Mark Powley (Bronson, The Bill) plays Mark Venn, Peter Guinness (Sleepy Hollow, Red Cap) plays Jason Styles, Benjamin Smith (Nowhere Boy) plays Matt, Matthew Marsh (Luther, Spy Game) plays James Morpeth, Paul Ritter (Lark Rise To Candleford) plays Stevie Quirke and Thomas Craig (Murdoch Mysteries) plays DS/DI Fenton Russell.

Hidden was filmed on location in Belfast. The director is Niall MacCormick (Wallander, The Long Walk To Finchley), the producer is Christopher Hall (Lost World, Archangel, Hound Of The Baskervilles, Case Sensitive), the executive producer for the BBC is Stephen Wright, Head of Drama for BBC Northern Ireland, the executive producers for Origin Pictures are David Thompson and Ed Rubin.
