Catch Me a Killer is a South African thriller series based on the book of the same name that tells the true story of former journalist-turned-psychological profiler Micki Pistorius, South Africa's first serial killer profiler.
To catch a monster you must get inside his head.
Adapted from Pistorius' memoir, the true crime series is set in the mid-90s and traces Pistorius' quest, as a newly-qualified forensic psychologist, to track down South Africa's most feared killers.
At this time, the country was gripped by an epidemic of rising crime and murder.
Each episode looks at another of her cases, from the Station Strangler to the Cleveland Killer to Stewart 'Boetie Boer' Wilken.
In 1994, against the backdrop of a country getting used to democracy, Micki joins a police task team on the hunt for a notorious serial killer the Station Strangler; a serial murderer who has left a trail of 22 dead boys in his wake.
While finding her feet in a male-dominated arena, Micki battles with her status as an outsider in the police force and in the community she serves.
In each episode of this brooding dramatic thriller, Micki deals with the looming spectre of her personal life and confronts increasing darkness in her quest to entrap and understand some of South Africa's most infamous serial killers.
The role of Micki is played by Charlotte Hope.
Catch Me a Killer is produced by Fired Up Films, Local Motion Pictures, Showmax and Night Train Media.
The directors are Rene van Rooyen, Tracey Larcombe and Brett Michael-Innes and the series is produced by Brett Wilson, with producers Greig Buckle and Robert Naidoo.
The head writer is Amy Jephta, with a writing team including Sarah Hooper, Jessica Ruston and Oliver Frampton.
The music was composed by Justin Lockey.
