Season 2
Makoti is a South African comedy-drama television series inspired by the blog "Missteps of a Young Wife" by Mike Maphoto and Thozama Mqikela that explores modern day relationships by following four couples at different stages of their relationship or marriage.
The series also explores some of the key elements that make or break relationships based on the four stages of marriage: honeymoon, conflict, bargaining and mature love.
The couples are also tied together by factors like work, family and friendships, creating a perfect recipe for conflict, drama and of some tender loving.
When Season 2 gets underway, Mo (Ayanda Makayi) receives a phone mail telling him that his father is sick and knocking on Heaven's door.
He just can't bring himself to go home until he is persuaded to by his girlfriend Jessica (Micaela Tucker).
But when they get to the Eastern Cape they find that nothing has happened at all - Mo's dad is anything but sick. The mischievous old man has arranged a wife for Mo.
Thulisile Phongolo returns as Lilitha, who is pregnant and settled into her marriage and career.
Her life looks shiny and attractive from the outside, leading the online pack of YouTubers and vloggers with her company, which has grown from Flawless Love into Flawless Lifestyle Channel.
Her husband Mthokozisi (played this season by Sdumo Mtshali, replacing Siphesihle Vazi in the role) has remained committed to what he promised Lilitha, but the strain of travelling to KZN all the time is taking a toll on him.
He is frustrated and stressed and often sobs to his mother instead of Lilitha, who is too busy putting bread on the table.
We are introduced to a new couple this season, Qhama and Langa, played by Zimkitha Kumbaca and Solomon Sebothoma.
Qhama starts off as an extremist, preaching one thing with great conviction until she's swept off her feet by Langa.
When this happens, she tries to keep the relationship under wraps so as not to damage her fast-growing brand.
Thrown into the mix is Qhama's self-destructive sister Anathi, who is a soul yearning for love, and acceptance but is lost in terms of where to acquire that.
Also returning this season are Tina Jaxa as Noma, Mike Mvelase as Lawrence, Kennedy Stab as Ta Lloyd, Makhosazana Ndlovu as Judith, Selai Ralarala as Noncedo and Craig Urbani as Ezra.
Don Mlangeni Nawa joins the cast this season in the role of Zandisile.
There are also guest performances by Zakhele Msibi, Amanda Quwe and Charmaine Mtinta.
