Six British reality TV contestants were tricked into believing they had witnessed the murder of B-movie actress Brigitte Nielsen in a bizarre case of "movies meets reality TV".
Nielsen is the star of her own made-for-TV movie reality series Voyage, the first episode of which is entitled Killing Brigitte Nielsen.
Ten people were taken to Greece to make a pleasant documentary on sailing.
Four were actors and the rest were volunteers who had no idea they are being secretly filmed by a team of engineers, and with no idea they were taking part in a bizarre human experiment.
Whilst on tour of the islands they 'stumbled upon' Brigitte Nielson and after several orchestrated mishaps Brigitte 'fell in love' with one of the volunteers.
Many bizarre events took place: Brigitte got murdered, volunteers ended up in jail, were interrogated and later helped in a jail break, before the big reveal.
The unwitting group all answered an advertisement to take part in a sailing documentary for the Greek Tourist Board, unaware of the plot surrounding them.
As planned, the drama started after the boat which carried the participants "crashed" into a yacht that Nielsen was in. Actors portraying drug traffickers stormed the boat and "killed" Brigitte as the participants watched in horror.
At some point, more actors took the six to jail and interrogated them for seven hours, before freeing them in a staged prison break.
According to producer Alki David the "volunteers" were carefully screened by psychiatric evaluation to ensure they could handle the pressure.
"We never made anybody feel they were in personal danger," he told BANG media. "We gave them £1,500 (R20,800) each and three days holiday in Greece afterwards.
"It is based on managing someone's entire reality like The Truman Show movie."
One of the "volunteers" is reportedly suing the production company as we speak.
Voyage: Killing Brigitte Nielsen will air on Sky Travel Channel in the UK next month.
