Fresh, vibey, funky, sexy and captivating are some of the words one could easily and undoubtedly pass to describe Nomuzi Mabena who snatched the MTV VJ Search title from two other girls last Saturday at Taboo, Sandton. This confident lass with striking looks and unforgettable charm went right for gold and looked at home on stage when wrapping up the show seconds after her triumph was announced.
Nomuzi’s victory was a true case of a “Dream come true”, from the face of it, it looks like the girl has auditioned for everything from SABC 1 to etv. She was also a finalist in the previous Live Presenter search which saw Lootlove beating thousands for the win.

Hosted by Club 808’s Mo Flava and the 2005 big head MTV VJ winner Sizwe Dhlomo, the results show was broadcasted live on MTV and hot performances by AKA, Toya Delazey and L Tido were delivered.
A hired crowd of screaming teenage girls were the meat of it all as they yelled and danced uncontrollably with ecstasy until the DJ stopped the decks.
I scored a chance to snap some few pics of the judges in the lounge before the winner was announced. Should I just say the mood was sombre in there? thats Bonang, HHP and Aza of Metro FM.
A crèche of infants would have entertained me more, but never the less, I managed to snap away.
The after party was a total smash! Except for MTV freezing the tab early, was the budget that low? Anyway, the VIP area was populated and polluted with cliques of total unknowns. I didn’t even bother leaving my seat to search for scoops. How dare MTV invite ordinary street people to this do?
All that excitement I’ve built up to collect the nasty goss crumbled in shambles. But then again, Nomuzi the winner was everywhere at the after party, if you didn’t know you’d think there were 10 copies of her in that venue.
TVSA wishes Nomuzi all the best in the career with MTV and we wish that she can calm down a little. She’s a great girl who looks like she will contribute a lot to MTV and her TV calling looks bright. Hopefully she doesn’t get swallowed in the mix, like previous’ season’s winner Fix. Thanks MTV for inviting us and do remember us again in future.
