Introducing It's Complicated Season 2: new characters, more drama

Prepare for things to get extra complicated in the second season of It's Complicated with the arrival of a bevy of new characters.

Lungile Radu (Rhythm City, Forever Young, Big Brother, The Voice), Masasa Mbangeni (Scandal!, Thola), Austin Shandu (Class Act, Intersexions, Mfolozi Street, Rockville) and Hlubi Mboya (Rhythm City, Isidingo, Mfolozi Street) have joined the cast for Season 2 which premieres on Mzansi Magic on Sunday, 9 October at 20h00.

The foursome join the show's original starring cast who return to navigate the impact of events from last season. Season 1 ended with Thato (Siyabonga Radebe) marrying Ntandokazi (Thishiwe Ziqubu) against crazy odds, and a heartbroken Ipeleng (Fikile Mthwalo-Kani) throwing caution to the wind and straying from her good girl character.

Season 2 picks up four months after the drama and pregnancy bomb and leads Ipeleng into a course of action that results in a tragic error. Here's what to expect from the official season synopsis:

This time, not only is Ipeleng’s dogged determination to get the perfect life in the form of a marriage and children clouding her judgment, it also leads her to make a tragic error that costs her the very thing that she has always wanted.

Meanwhile, Thato and Ntandokazi’s already fragile relationship isn’t made any less fraught by a wedding ring. Could a couple that was on the brink of a break-up so close to their wedding survive the challenges that they - and their extended family – keep heaping on them?

Did they get married too soon? Did they do it for the right reasons? And will they see things through for better or for worse?

Word from M-Net's Head of Drama Reneilwe Sema, is that the season's also going to delve in Mandisa's (Samela Tyelbooi) past. She's buried her own skeletons to be Ipeleng's rock up until now but it's all about to change. A horrifying secret will crack her solid-as-a-rock foundation and threatens to blow her life apart.

And what about the new foursome? Who are they? Here's a close-up on their characters:

Phila Hlatshwayo
Played by Lungile

Phila Hlatshwayo is that guy who walks the thin line between good guy, and bad guy, depending on the day and the mood that he is in.

Having worked in war torn countries, he has come to appreciate life, and that it can end at any moment, so he lives the hell out of life and gives no quarter. He works hard, he parties hard, he does what needs doing, but doesn’t allow it to hinder him being able to get value out of life.

Katlego Grootboom
Played by Masasa

The Miranda Priestly of South African television, Katlego is no nonsense, hardworking, driven, hard-core, unflinching, and uncompromising. She has big dreams of creating revolutionary television.

Up till now however, nobody has been willing to allow her to break out of doing these entertainment shows that she does. But, she is all about getting those AR’s, and making a mark for herself. And she is not interested in anyone who is going to derail her plans.

Dr Patience Moloi
Played by Hlubi

Patience Moloi is a qualified gynaecologist because that is what she specialised in. But, she feels that she makes the most of her dream of helping people by working in the emergency room - she enjoys the adrenaline, and saving lives. She is gentle-hearted, but no nonsense, and her patients find it a pleasure to be treated by her.

Nqobizitha Dumakude
Played by Austin

Tall, good-looking, with an undeniable air of danger that gives him an edge that most women would fall for. Nqobi can be fun, he is extremely intelligent, but he is also emotional unavailable. He has the potential to be a real bad boy, but somehow he manages to avoid that cliché, and he is a man of mystery.

YAY! They're back!  So Masasa and Hlubi will be playing Sesotho characters.... I wonder how is their Sotho though.
We get it Thabang and Mandisa are inlove and all but they must just tone it down a notch please, they can be OTT at times.
Its a great show and I'm glad its back but I'm not sure for Sunday 8pm slot though...........
