DStv subscribers lose Fear the Walking Dead

When MultiChoice announced the blitz of changes on DStv last week, one important question hovered like a zombie caught in a fence: what's happening to Fear the Walking Dead?

It's been airing exclusively on AMC since Season 1 but AMC's shutting down on DStv in late October/early November so what's the plan with it?

We've investigated and it turns out there isn't one.

This is the reply we received from MultiChoice when we enquired:

"When AMC stops broadcasting in the Africa territory, the rights to some of the shows might become available for other channels to buy. If there are any developments, we’ll keep you and our customers posted."

This reveals that the future of the show hangs in a dangerous balance of "might", "maybe", "if someone's in the mood to buy it."

It's the spin-off of one of the most popular cult shows in the world so the fact that there's no plan for it is mind-boggling. We assumed it would go straight to FOX to alternate with The Walking Dead but clearly this hasn't been organised.

The handling of the show on AMC, which is still available on StarSat, has also been as messy as gaping intestines because the latest episodes haven't aired. The first season aired on AMC last year and Part 1 of Season 2 aired in April this year but Part 2 has been ignored.

It finished airing in the US this week but hasn't aired on AMC who are running repeats of already screened episodes instead. Ultimately it's suffering the bite of death from every angle.
