Genre: Comedy

The Carmichael Show 3

Sitcom which follows the life of stand up comedian Jerrod Carmichael as he navigates through life with his therapist in-training girlfriend and his heavily opinionated family.

Inspired by the life of Carmichael, the series follows Jerrod and his opinionated North Carolina family as they navigate topics that all families face today in America.

Nothing is too uncomfortable to explore, including police protests, guns and religion.

Jerrod often finds himself debating such issues with his old-school father, Joe; his devoutly religious mother, Cynthia; his progressive live-in girlfriend, Maxine; his recently separated brother, Bobby; and Bobby's estranged and outspoken wife, Nekeisha.

And somewhere in the middle of all of their disagreeing is the heart of this family.

In the Season 3 premiere, "Yes Means Yes": When Maxine's friend posts about her sexual assault on social media, Jerrod and Maxine end up on opposite sides of the issue.

This opens the family up to a debate about consent that sends Bobby into a spiral.

Channel: kykNET & kie (DStv 145)
TX Time: 20h00
Genre: Drama, Afrikaans

Fynskrif 3

Katrien's life hangs by a thread. Rene is diagnosed with cancer. Wian brought a baby home just a few days after he and Adele got married. Jaco left for Spain, leaving Lara alone.

Is there a silver lining at the end of this dark cloud? All questions are answered in the third and final season of Fynskrif.

Over the final 13 episodes of the Afrikaans legal drama, the focus is on the characters' personal and family lives. Everyone must finally decide what they really want out of life.

Ben (Neels van Jaarsveld) and Lara (Tinarie van Wyk Loots) have to face their mother's illness with their father Hans (Chris van Niekerk).

It's not going to be easy, but it also gives them clarity on their own future: what does it mean to truly love? What is important? And how do you find a balance between work and life?

Similar questions also influence other characters in Fynskrif. Especially Wian (Edwin van der Walt) and Adele (Christia Visser), who have to decide very early on in their marriage what it means to be a family.

But it's not just all doom and gloom - Dolf (Charlton George) and Gertrude (Elana Afrika-Bredenkamp) are radiantly happy and pregnant. Is it going to be a little girl or a boy?

Corné (Beer Adriaanse) and Christelle (Rolanda Marais) take their first step towards a full relationship, but will Corné really grow up this time?

There is also a new lawyer joining the practice. Inge Senekal (played by Nicole Holm) is a mother of two who returns to law after many years.

She immediately falls in with the daily routine of the practice. She provides Ben, Lilani (Lea Vivier), Wian and everyone else with a shoulder to cry on... and a packet of fudge from her handbag.

Also, Thandi (Crystal-Donna Roberts) returns to great fanfare, but her relationship with Corné is no longer the same - and she also carries a dark secret.

But Van Wyk and Partners remain a legal practice and people mess up and there are always issues that need attention.

From a farmer and his wife who wants to divorce because he doesn't want to leave the farm, to a teacher who is fired for being a cabaret dancer to a former professor of Ben's who charged with drunken driving, there is a wide variety of cases.

Guest stars include Laudo Liebenberg from the band aKING, Pierre van Pletzen, Annelize van der Ryst and Melt Sieberhagen.

The third season also features the children's matric farewell, a wedding or two, a camp weekend and even a whirlwind tour.

Life in all its wonderful complexity plays out in the third and final season.
