kykNET & kie's new Afrikaans telenovela Skemergrond premieres on Monday 1 July at 19h30, replacing Arendsvlei which wraps the Thursday before, almost six years since its premiere.
It will be gone but not forgotten because numerous Arendsvlei actors headline Skemergrond, alongside a medley of 7de Laan stalwarts stirred with newcomers.
As we spilt
here, Skemergrond takes place in the fictional Western Cape town of Gemoedsdrif and centres round the Louw family and their flower farm.
The series opens with the delivery of a letter that leads to events that will irrevocably change their life.

Jasmine is the owner of both Everlasting farm, and Everlasting Florist & Bistro in Gemoedsdrif.
Everlasting has been in Jasmine’s family for generations.

JP is married to Jasmine and they have two daughters, Hazel and Lily.

Hazel currently lives on the farm with her family, where she manages Everlasting.

Erica's mother Ragel who spends most of her time in her workroom, busy with her flower arrangements and potpourri for Everlasting Florist & Bistro.
Erica's father Abel is the foreman on the farm and is played by Noel Oostendorp.
Manny Goosen

Manny runs many things in town - always with a drink in hand. He owns Gemoedsdrif Hotel and sees himself as the town’s guardian.

Ruan is the town’s detective. He is very passionate about his work and seeks only one thing: justice.

Patty is the hotel’s new chef. She's a people’s person, but don’t make the mistake of thinking she’s a softy.

The Maritz family owns the neighbouring farm Lang Verloren. Tillie is married to Willem and they have a son Dirk.
Tillie and Jasmine are best friends and have become confidantes as they've navigated the challenges of being farm wives during a difficult era for women.
