The nominees for the 7th edition of Winnie Ntshaba's Royalty Soapie Awards were quietly announced on SABC 1 on Wednesday evening (24 July) by Skeem Saam stars Hellen Motsuki and Eric Macheru.
The ceremony takes place on Saturday 24 August 2024 at the Heartfelt Arena in Pretoria and will air on SABC 1 a week later, on Saturday 31 August at 20h00.
Cancelled shows The River and The Estate lead the nominations again this year with 24 and 22 nods between them, and Scandal! and Skeem Saam step into third position with 17 each - The Black Door was in this spot
last year.
Newcomers this year are: Umkhokha: The Curse, Redemption, Isitha: The Enemy, Diepe Waters and Gqeberha: The Empire.
Uzalo's noticeably missing after having entered last year.
The nominees have been chosen from the 2022/2023 soapie season and only shows that entered the awards were considered for nomination.
