Andries Plak is a South African comedy-drama television series written by PG du Plessis and starring Richard van der Westhuizen as Andries Melck, a farmer who lost his farm in a legal dispute and is forced to squat in a shack with his former farm manager, which slowly changes his attitude towards people and life.
Andries Plak stars Richard van der Westhuizen as Andries Melck, also known as 'Wit Andries' (White Andries), who hates everyone and everything.
He wants to get even with all political leaders, his church, his doctor (who gave him lots of warnings about his state of health), commerce (which he distrusts) and social life in general, which he loathes.
There is no limit to his disenchantment. He also has a rare talent for the barbed insult.
Andries lost his farm in a long legal battle and has become embittered. His wife left him, his children are not speaking to him and he ends up squatting with Paulus Tshukudu – his former farm manager.
Squatting - and the squatters he meets - slowly changes his attitude towards people and life.
His compassion is aroused and his own personal struggle is drowned by the personal needs of the dispossessed.
Andries Plak was created and written by PG du Plessis. André Scholtz was a producer and the director was Koos Roets. Music was by Mel Botes.
