Synopsis
Blind Justice is a new take on the conventional police/crime drama.
The lead character - New York Detective Jim Dunbar - is ambushed with his partner by a man carrying an AK-47 assault rifle. Dunbar's partner fails to provide protection and Dunbar gets blinded in the crossfire.
Although he qualifies for full pension due to his injuries Dunbar fights to remain on the police force despite his disability, and is assigned to a new precinct with his guide dog, Hank.
He is partnered with Detective Karen Bettancourt, who is not happy being his partner as she doesn't believe Dunbar is fit to serve with a loaded gun.
Although the precinct detectives admire Dunbar for his heroism they all feel pretty much the same way as Bettancourt - that Dunbar is not up to to the job. Detective Marty Russo in particular does all he can to make Dunbar's life difficult, determined to see him fail.
All the while Dunbar has to deal with his wife Christie, who stuck with him through the shooting but who begins to question why she is still with him, after past infidelities on his part. She also believes he takes her for granted.
