The incomparable Bette Midler comes to television in Bette, a comedy in which she pokes sharp, satiric fun at her image, her career, her ego and her various roles as diva, wife and mother.
Bette Midler plays herself - a divine celebrity who is adored by her fans. Although she is a celebrity, her family is often ashamed of her - Bette is constantly on diets and far away in dreams - she is everything but a perfect celebrity.
Although her life is a mess, she loves it!
Making up her inner circle are her 13-year-old daughter, Rose (Linsday Lohan in the pilot; thereafter Marina Malota); her best friend and manager, Connie (Joanna Gleason), and her accompanist, Oscar (James Dreyfus).
The series was produced by CBS Productions in association with Columbia TriStar Television.
