Season 3
Executive Produced by Steven Spielberg and created by Diablo Cody, United States of Tara returns for a third season.
Suburban wife and mother Tara Gregson (Toni Collette) juggles her family and career while suffering from Dissociative Identity Disorder — a condition formerly known as multiple personality disorder.
It's never a dull moment in the Gregson household, as Tara's supportive husband Max and their two teenaged children, Kate and Marshall, try to lead as much of a "normal" life as possible.
Tara Gregson is just your average wife and mother of two. But something sets Tara apart from the rest of the booster club moms in her suburban neighbourhood. She suffers from Dissociative Identity Disorder (DID), which results in the appearance of several eccentric alternate personalities at the most inopportune times.
There is the wild and flirty "T," the 1950s Betty Crocker housewife Alice, beer guzzling Vietnam vet Buck, pop psychologist Shoshana, and troublemaking toddler Chicken.
Living with multiple personalities is certainly a challenge, but Tara is determined to get to the bottom of what caused her condition.
In Season 1, Tara decides to forego the medication that's been keeping her alters at bay in the hopes of discovering the truth about the causes of her mysterious condition. She hops from one psychiatrist's couch to another, all the while trying to cope with her alters, who appear whenever the going gets rough.
Husband Max tries to go with the flow, but it's a challenge with a different alter in his bed every night.
Kate solidifies her reputation as a bad girl in school, while Marshall harbors a crush on a straight boy in his class and Charmaine continues her search for Mr. Right.
In Season 2, just as Tara decides to move on from her past, a sudden neighbourhood incident opens the door to her family's shocking secrets. Her alters — some old and some new — help her unravel the mysteries while simultaneously infusing their own chaos into the mix.
Meanwhile, the rest of Tara's family explore their own identities as Max hits a boiling point, Marshall questions his sexuality, Kate takes on an online fantasy persona, and Charmaine finds herself in a complicated love triangle.
