SABC1's clearly come into some moolah recently because the channel's gloomy, smackworthy line-up of repeats has been interrupted by new shows, namely: two scripted series, two new docu-reality shows and various comebacks.
A new season of Now or Never starts tonight (Monday, 15 July at 18h00) and Season 7 of Nyan' Nyan starts Tuesday (16th) at 18h00.
Season 2 of Break Da Beat premieres in early August and It Takes a Village returns for a new season in September.
Here's a look at what to expect from the new series:
Emasisweni
Premiere date: Wednesday 17 July 2019 at 18h00
A docu-reality series which captures and narrates the life journey of Zinhle Ngidi, a 'virgin' from Soweto in her late 20's on a cultural excursion of self-discovery.
Her journey is fraught with doubt, forced introspection, and the challenges and frustrations of trying to introduce modernized ways of doing things into an old cultural practice of virginity testing that is still very much traditional and conservative.
The series also looks at the lengths to which this proud and traditional Zulu girl is willing to go to make what is still seen as an old practice, modern and relevant to her peers.
Makoti
Premiere date: Wednesday, 17 July 2019 at 19h30
A comedy-drama produced by Urban Brew Studios that explores modern day relationships by following four couples at different stages of their relationship or marriage.
The series also explores some of the key elements that make or break relationships based on the four stages of marriage: honeymoon, conflict, bargaining and mature love.
The couples are also tied together by factors like work, family and friendships, creating a perfect recipe for conflict, drama and of some tender loving.
The series stars Thulisile Phongolo (Generations) as Lilitha, Siphesihle Vazi (Selimathunzi) as Mthoko, Tina Jaxa (Gold Diggers) as Noma and Mike Mvelase (Generations) as Lawrence.
Others in the cast include Themba Nofemele (Muvhango), Craig Urbani (Scandal!), Zizi Peteni (Home Affairs), Ayanda Makayi (MTV Shuga), Cindy Mahlangu (The Herd) and Andile Gumbi (Isibaya).
Instapreneurs

Topics covered include image, branding and frequency of posting and those featured include Thick Leeyonce, Chef Nti, Mihlali N and Dj Doowap.
Agent
Premiere date: Sunday, 11 August 2019 at 21h30
A drama series about the kind of wheeling and dealing that goes on in the modern game of soccer.
It explores how sociopathic rival agents, megalomaniac club owners, scheming professional football players and their gold-digging football wags, compromised club managers, and duplicitous witch-doctors, shamelessly hustle and negotiate inside the corridors of world football power.
