Stark Studios in Randburg - scene of the production.

It's been 17 years since Binnelanders first premiered on both kykNET and M-Net for a 52-episode first season.

Since then it's gone through two notable surgeries, changing its name to Binneland Sub Judice in 2010 and then Binneland the year after before reverting back to Binnelanders in 2014.

It's been on TV for a total of 18 seasons so far and the new season premiered this Monday, 5 June.

You've seen the teasers for June here, now scooch in for this extended teaser:

A pregnancy, nail-biting rescue attempt, sorrowful diagnosis, unexpected inheritance, attempted murder, marriage and other deep matters of the heart are a taste of what viewers can expect this season.

Radamel and Diego Hernandez, two characters you would rather not cross swords with, pose a great threat to Steve, Danny and Andrea.

A young mother who has just given birth, Jazzy, played by Stephanie Ndlovu, ends up on the brink of death in Ongevalle, while her baby is well... solving this mystery is no easy task, as Annelize and Jeremy soon realize.

Conrad's health is experiencing a setback which Nicolette will help him with, while Tertius and Tracy's relationship goes from strength to strength. That is until an ex messes things up. Ultimately, it is a test that will change lives irrevocably…

We meet Liam's beautiful mother Birdy, played by Natasha Sutherland, and Karen does everything in her power to win her favour. But that's easier said than done.

Meanwhile, Dawid finds out he has a daughter he never knew about - and she's right under his nose in Binneland!

The opening of Louis, Tertius and Rian's new restaurant is a huge success, but teething problems abound. Elise is firmly convinced that she knows how to attract more customers…

Chiron and Delia go after Dr Steve Abrahams and just when Delia and Dawid think things have worked out well, the bomb explodes.

A popular Springbok rugby player is admitted to Binneland shortly before the World Cup tournament and Naomi is in her element (and very nervous!) to nurse him.

Another patient, Braam, is driving the nursing staff up the walls - someone please get through to him!

Ella gets a job as an accident doctor, but a cloud hangs over her head. Her twin sister Marissa is serving a prison sentence for a terrible crime.

Unrest leads the way and Binneland Stereo is all up in that business.

Bets arrives to fix things with her "Connie", but a serious accident pulls the rug out from under everyone's feet. If it was truly an accident.

How much mercy, if any, will At Koster have this time?

-----

Flash fact: The rugby player is an actual, real world player - guess who? Our vote goes to Faf de Klerk. We can imagine him acting.
