Virtually everyone becomes a suspect, as each one seems to have reasons – even if only apparent – to get rid of her.
Meanwhile, César's freedom, love and future are at stake as he searches for answers.
In the series premiere: While family and friends celebrate Adriana's birthday, she herself feels suffocated, and wishes she could escape from a life she considers miserable.

The Wife is a telenovela inspired by characters and events from the Hlomu book series by Dudu Busani-Dube - Hlomu the Wife, Zandile the Resolute and Naledi His Love - which follow the lives of the eight Zulu brothers, a formidable crime family, through the eyes of the wives they marry.
This season centres on two star-crossed lovers: Tswana doctor Naledi Montsho and Zulu taxi driver Qhawe.
Gaisang K Noge stars as Naledi opposite Kwenzo Ngcobo as Qhawe.
The new season picks up with the Zulu brothers' crimes now front page news – and Naledi kidnapped.
Wiseman Mncube replaces Bonko Khoza in the role of Mqhele Zulu, the abusive, ice-cream loving husband of Hlomu (Mbalenhle Mavimbela).
Hlomu and Mqhele's love story remains complicated this season, in a relationship described as "dark and abusive" and "deep into toxic love".
In addition to Mncube, new cast members this season include Sello Motloung as Naledi's father, Kgosi; Stoan Seate as Sefako, Qhawe's rival for Naledi; Lungelo Mpangase as Xoli, Sambulo's love interest; Mo Setumo as Tshidi, Naledi's older sister; Sello Ramolahloane as Molefi; and Terrence Ngwila as Detective Baloyi.

In the series premiere, "Time to Set You Free": Eight ordinary Americans have made an extreme choice: opening their home to a roommate just released from prison.
These individuals have a singular goal - help the former inmate re-enter society and stay out of prison.
As they prepare for their new roommate's release, these homeowners are questioned by friends, family and those around them about their decision to bring a former convict into their lives.

While they do receive a warm welcome, does this signal happily ever after?
The Season 2 cast includes Lungelo Mpangase, who reprises her role as Ntokozo, Lusanda Mbane as Joyce (replacing Masasa Mbangeni from the first season), Nolwazi Shange as Sibongile and Loyiso MacDonald as Lungelo.
Dumisani Mbebe reprises his role as the villainous and aptly named Terror, and Oros Mampofu also returns as Musa.
Set in Johannesburg, Mzali Wami was created by Dineo Ranaka and Siphosethu Tshapu.
