About the Show

Being Human is an American supernatural drama television series created by Toby Whithouse and based on the British series of the same name, which revolves around three roommates living in Boston who appear to be in their twenties. The trio try to live a normal life despite being a ghost, a vampire and a werewolf.

The series premiered in the USA on Syfy on 17 January, 2011.

Being Human premiered in South Africa on DStv's M-Net Series channel on Monday 31 October 2011, at 21h30. It moved to M-Net Series Showcase (simulcast in HD) from Season 3, when the former channel became defunct in July 2013. See "Seasons" below for seasonal broadcast dates and times.

Season 3 premiered on M-Net Series Showcase on Monday 23 September 2013, at 21h30. New episodes broadcast weekly. There are 13 episodes in the third season.

Season 1

Being Human is a re-imagining of the acclaimed BBC original series that follows three 20-something roommates: a ghost, a vampire and a werewolf who are struggling to keep their dark secrets from the world, while also helping each other navigate the complexities of living double lives.

In Being Human, leading normal lives is a lot harder than it looks for three paranormal roommates - vampire Aidan (Sam Witwer), ghost Sally (Meaghan Rath) and werewolf Josh (Sam Huntington) - who share their secrets and a Boston brownstone.

Together they try their best to be human while navigating the complexities of living double lives.

Season 2

Being human: nobody ever said it was easy. But when you're a ghost, a vampire, and a werewolf, it may be completely impossible.

The action picks up where last season's explosive finale left off as Aidan (Sam Witwer), Sally (Meaghan Rath) and Josh (Sam Huntington) continue to struggle with their supernatural double lives.

Aidan tries to steer a leaderless Boston while resisting his deadlier vampire instincts as he finds himself tempted and tormented by a figure from his past.

Sally must face the consequences of missing her door while figuring out how to navigate life on earth as a ghost.

Josh searches for a cure for his condition while struggling to maintain his relationship with Nora and, like the rest of his roommates, trying to build a future for himself beyond simply being a monster.

Guest stars this season include Dichen Lachman (Dollhouse) as Suren and Kyle Schmid (The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants).

Season 3

Being Human stars Sam Witwer as Aidan, Meaghan Rath as Sally and Sam Huntington as Josh with Kristen Hager as Nora, joining this year as a series regular. The season consists of 13 episodes.

In the Season 2 cliffhanger Aidan found himself six feet under after being banished and buried as punishment from vampire leader Mother.

Sally became lost in a state of limbo and for Josh, events went horribly wrong when his plot to break the werewolf curse by killing his Maker Ray backfired, endangering Nora.

Now, as the new season begins... be careful what you wish for!

Season 3 also features a stellar lineup of new and returning guest stars including Mark Pellegrino (Lost) as Aidan's vampire mentor Bishop; Amy Aquino (Big Love, Harry's Law, ER) as Donna, a witch whose supernatural spells are sought to help Sally; Xander Berkeley (24, Nikita) as Liam, the father of purebred werewolf twins who is intent on locating his missing children; Bobby Campo (Final Destination) as Max, a young mortician who develops a connection with Sally; and Kyle Schmid (Copper) returning as Aidan's vampire protégé/"son" Henry.

Being Human is a Muse Entertainment production in association with Zodiak USA and is based on the acclaimed series created by Toby Whithouse and produced by Touchpaper.

Executive producers are Michael Prupas (The Kennedys, Pillars of the Earth), Anna Fricke (Men in Trees, Everwood) who is both writer and showrunner, Jeremy Carver (Supernatural), and Rob Pursey and Toby Whithouse.

Irene Litinsky (Human Trafficking, The Phantom) is series producer.
