Synopsis
Dr. Stephen Connor and his team of experts from the National Institutes of Health (NIH) are summoned when ordinary doctors are unable to find solutions to outbreaks of unexplained and fearful diseases.
As a mobile medical team, these specialists travel anywhere crisis strikes and have governmental free reign to take charge and determine the cause and find a cure.
Dr. Connor's elite team include: Dr. Natalie Durant, who specialises in a pathology and epidemiology and is Connor's voice of reason; Dr. Miles McCabe, the “wunderkind” rookie eager to prove himself; Frank Powell, the toxicologist and close friend of Connor; and Eva Rossi, the savvy press liaison who uses unconventional methods to keep the media at bay in the midst of a crisis.
Although this daily grind of urgency, stress and heightened emotions has become “normal” for these medical professionals, each team member still has to deal with the personal impact and sacrifices they make to continue in their careers.
Dr. Connor's aggressive take-charge attitude enables him to save the lives of millions, but in the process he alienates himself from his son and now-estranged wife.
The team not only solves mysteries but saves lives as they focus not on who did it, but what are the causes and the cures.
