Channel: M-Net (DStv 101)
TX Time: 02h00 (live), 21h30 (repeat)
Genre: Awards
Saturday Night Live comedian Kenan Thompson hosts the ceremony for the first time this year, on a Monday night instead of a Sunday in the US.
It was moved to accommodate Sunday Night Football on NBC, where it airs live, with a simulcast in South Africa on M-Net.
The ceremony comes with a notable change this year because of the impact of streaming.
The Daytime and Primetime Emmys now centre round themes, styles and formats instead sticking strictly to the idea that shows that air in the day must be at the Daytime Emmys and shows that air at night must be at the Primetime Emmys e.g. a daytime talk show that has the same format as a primetime show can enter the Primetime awards instead.
The Primetime Emmys are still divided into two categories: the Primetime Emmy Awards and the Primetime Creative Arts Awards, which honour technical and artistic achievement and were held on 3 and 4 September.
HBO's Succession garnered the most nominations overall, with a total of 25, although it only won one at the Creative Emmys for Best Drama Casting.

Eda is a young and beautiful college student.
After her parents passed away when she was a little girl, she survived all the hardships in her life with the guidance of her aunt.
Eda studies landscape architecture at a private university on a full scholarship.
When her scholarship is cut without any notification, she is dismissed from the university in her last year.
Eda starts to work part-time at her aunt's flower shop.
She lives with her close friend Melek in a cozy house and tries to begin her life all over again.
Eda wants to enter a nationwide university exam and this time wants to study at a public university so that she has no scholarship issue.
However, she still can't forget the injustice in her life, nor the man who is responsible for cutting scholarships.
Serkan Bolat, a young and successful businessman, is in charge of scholarships given to the university where Eda studies.
When Serkan gives the order to cut unnecessary expenses at the company, his financial manager cuts the student scholarships by himself.
This situation may not be such a big deal for the company but it is an issue that dramatically changes a young person's life.
Eda and Serkan's lives intersect out of pure coincidence.
When Serkan is invited for a graduation ceremony at the university to give a speech, Eda meets him and argues that her life was turned upside down because his company did not keep its promises for student scholarships.
Serkan can't believe that he is responsible for making this kind of decision.
When he questions the situation, he learns that his financial manager made the decision on his own initiative.
Eda and Serkan dislike each other and hope not to meet again. However, they come across each other again and again, on different occasions.
Serkan goes to Gokceada to attend his ex-girlfriend's engagement ceremony on a private aircraft.
In the aircraft he bumps into Eda, who works as a part-time hostess on behalf of her housemate Melek and they are forced to travel together.
When they arrive at the engagement ceremony, Serkan finds himself in a difficult position.
Serkan knows that Selin is still in love with him and he wants to reverse her decision.
A sequence of events causes Serkan and Eda to enter into a contract to act as if they are dating.
Serkan wants to make Selin cancel her engagement while Eda wants to make her crush jealous.
Will the press believe in the surprise love between Serkan and Eda?
Will Eda get along with Serkan? Will Serkan manage to break his ex-girfriend's engagement?
And will Eda continue her education and eventually get a university degree?
The Secrets to Civilization
Channel: Curiosity Channel (DStv 185)
TX Time: 21h00
Genre: Documentary Series, Science, Technology
Explore how cutting-edge Earth sciences are changing how we understand the ancient past, restoring the environment to its place as a key driver of human history.
This series uses new science to get to the heart of what really drives the emergence of civilisations: how they thrive, and how they meet their downfall.
Feeding from the recent explosion of new data about our planet's own past, this series sets out to offer a completely fresh, eye-opening perspective on the ancient world that speaks directly to the present.
It's such a new area of study that it remains controversial with historians who prefer to interpret history as a political story driven entirely by human agency.
Each episode explores the interaction of people, landscape and climate and how these forces shape human history.
We'll see how a changing planet can give civilisations a helping hand – or play a role in their extinction.
This series is as much about us as it is about people of the past - because the biggest story of all is that humankind's fortunes are, and always have been, deeply sensitive to the changing natural world around us.
Throughout the series, top historians and archaeologists share with us how new collaborations with the scientific community is providing them with fresh insights on how phenomena such as climate change and disease have influenced the human journey.
It makes the case that nature may have played a major part in some of the pivotal moments in history.
We meet those who are on the front line, gathering evidence from ancient pollen, plankton, human DNA and the residues of ancient pollution locked in Arctic ice.
From ancient Egypt to the fall of Rome, there are a battery of visual techniques and CGI for cut-scenes featuring some of the big characters whose lives coincide with the big swings of nature - and who have to deal with the consequences.
And we frame our stories with CGI that recreates the 'big picture' – giving us a bird's eye view of cities and landscapes of the past.
Our satellite views provide a view of what's going on at a continental scale.
We unpack three major shifts in world history: The collapse of Bronze Age civilisations over 3,000 years ago was a true end of an era and a massive backward step for humanity.
It was also the historical context in which the stories of Exodus and the Trojan War were born.
But it was followed by the phenomenon that we look at in our second episode: the inexorable rise of classical civilisation in the 1st Millennium BC, a zero-to-hero journey that culminated in the creation of the world's first superpower, the Roman Empire.
And finally in Episode 3 we re-examine the collapse of Roman Empire, so often portrayed as a fall into decadence and decline while under pressure from waves of invading barbarians, but long overdue a radical rethink – because this is an era in which globalisation combined with changes to the natural environment that resulted in the first pandemics.
By exploring these questions, we can find out the essential rules of what it takes to make or break a civilisation.

Sagrada Familia: Gaudi's Challenge
Channel: Curiosity Channel (DStv 185)
TX Time: 20h00
Genre: Documentary
Construction of the famous Basilica in Barcelona, designed by Antoni Gaudi, was started in 1882.
To this day, it has not been completed.
The architecture is one of such creative madness, originality and fantasy, that it has been declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO.
While the construction has never been simple, it has never been abandoned either.
The monument has been set on fire, vandalized, Gaudi's original models destroyed, and still, work goes on to complete the masterpiece.
After 16 years of piecing back together Gaudi's master plan with advancements in computer technology and design, architects have been able to pursue the building, started 140 years ago.
However, as construction progresses, some of its greatest challenges have yet to be surmounted, including the construction of 10 more spires.
The team hopes to complete the masterpiece by 2026, Gaudi's 100-year anniversary.
This film documents the complexities of respecting the original inspiration and techniques set forth by Gaudi over a century ago.
Juxtaposing sequences shot in the midst of the cathedral as construction ensues, with reenactments and CGI images, the documentary draws you into Gaudi's paradise on Earth, from the origins of its inspiration to the most recent architectural additions.
