Season 1
Blood & Water is a South African coming-of-age mystery drama television series in which a Cape Town teen sets out to prove whether a private-school swimming star is her sister who was abducted at birth.
Set in the surroundings of Parkhurst College, the prestigious inner-city school for elite scholars and academic overachievers, Blood & Water follows the exploits of 16-year-old Puleng Khumalo, as she engineers her transfer to the school to investigate the 17-year-old cold case of the abducted-at-birth older sister she's never met.
In the search Puleng (Ama Qamata) meets beautiful, alluring Fikile 'Fiks' Bhele from a nearby private school, played by Khosi Ngema starring in her debut role.
Joining the female leads is Thabang Molaba as Karabo 'KB' Molapo, resident bad boy and high school heartthrob who is struggling to live up to his father's high expectations.
In her ongoing search Puleng finds an ally and assistant investigator in Wade (Dillon Windvogel), while also having to handle the opinionated Wendy Dlamini (Natasha Thahane), who at times is a bit too 'woke'.
Completing the cast are Gail Mabalane, Sello Maake, Arno Greef, Ryle De Morny, Getmore Sithole, Xolile Tshabalala, Sandi Schultz, Monique Rockman and Cindy Mahlangu.
Blood & Water is produced by Bradley Joshua and Benjamin Overmeyer from Gambit Films. The series director is Nosipho Dumisa, with Daryne Joshua and Travis Taute serving as co-directors and writers.
The executive producers are Bradley Joshua, Nosipho Dumisa, Daryne Joshua, Travis Taute and Simon Beesley.
The original score is by Tatenda Terrence Kamera and Africa Creative Agency, with additional music by Africa Creative Agency and Africa Creative Publishing.
On Monday, 15 June 2020 Netflix announced that the series has been renewed for Season 2.
