Season 6
From Shonda Rhimes, the Golden Globe-winning creator of Grey's Anatomy, comes the story of a team of gifted doctors working together to change the lives of their patients for the better as they look to one another for friendship and love.
Having made a home in Los Angeles and among her friends at the practice, renowned neonatal surgeon Addison Montgomery may have at last found true love with fellow doctor and longtime friend Sam Bennett.
But just as things have become romantic for the two of them, their friends question if their relationship, so complicated by the presence of Sam's ex — Addison's best friend, Naomi — has a chance.
Things become even more complicated by the presence of Dr. Jake Reilly, the practice's new fertility specialist. With such a complicated love life, it's nice that Addison has her newly adopted infant son, Henry.
Seaside Health and Wellness's co-founders, Naomi and Sam, nearly lost their daughter, Maya, in a car accident that took the life of the practice's own Dell. It was Addison's surgical talents that saved both Maya and her newborn baby.
In the wake of the accident, Naomi leaves the practice to focus on her grandchild while Sam struggles to find his footing without his family, who have all moved to New York.
Initially giving up custody of their child Lucas to Pete after enduring a near-fatal trauma, Violet has returned more mentally sound and sure of her role as a mother.
Having bitterly fought for custody in court, Pete and Violet came through the drama not only ready to co-parent, but ready to be with one another.
It's soon after this realization that the two decide to get married and begin a new life together.
At long last, through numerous bumps in the road, break-ups and make-ups, Charlotte and Cooper are finally happily married. They're also enjoying the presence of nine-year-old Mason, Cooper's son from a previous relationship.
The youngest doctor in the practice, Dr. Amelia Shepherd, is as gifted a surgeon as her Seattle-based brother, Derek, but is struggling to find herself as she learns to fit in with this close-knit group of surgeons especially as she battles a drug addiction and the loss of both her fiancé Ryan and her infant son to do a severe neurological anomaly.
The final two doctors that round out Seaside Health and Wellness is psychiatrist Sheldon Wallace, who is surprisingly well-adjusted despite having pursued many of the women in the practice and come up empty-handed, and Dr. Jake Reilly, a Fertility Expert whose skill with women is a sight to behold.
The doctors of Seaside Health and Wellness work on the most difficult cases, patients whose medical needs often pose moral and ethical dilemmas.
Though they may heatedly disagree at work, and though their personal lives may complicate matters, at the end of the day they are the best of friends, always ready to be there for each other.
Private Practice stars Kate Walsh as Dr. Addison Forbes Montgomery, Paul Adelstein as Dr. Cooper Freedman, KaDee Strickland as Dr. Charlotte King, Brian Benben as Dr. Sheldon Wallace and Caterina Scorsone as Dr. Amelia Shepherd, with Taye Diggs as Dr. Sam Bennett and Amy Brenneman as Dr. Violet Turner.
Private Practice was created by Shonda Rhimes (Grey's Anatomy, Off the Map, Scandal) and is executive-produced by Rhimes, Betsy Beers (Grey's Anatomy, Off the Map, Scandal), Mark Gordon (The Hoax, Saving Private Ryan), Mark Tinker (St. Elsewhere, NYPD Blue), Jennifer Cecil and Barbie Kligman.
